Sullust is defended by the Sullustan Defense Force (SDF). The SDF serves in a purely defensive role. The SDF is comprised of:
- Sullustan Defense Fleet
- Sullustan Starfighter Corp.
- Sullustan Customs
- Sullustan Army
Sullustan Defense Fleet
Responsible for protecting the people and planet of Sullust in the Sullustan
System. Maintains a presence in outer space. They are primarily
concerned with pirates and fringe groups attempting to disrupt trade.
Sullustan Starfighter Corp.
Used to be under the umbrella of the Sullustan Defense Fleet. It is
now its own wing of the Sullustan Ministry of Defense (SMoD). Usually
works with the Sullustan Defense Fleet. It provides closer inspection
of smaller craft.
Sullustan Customs
Is
technically part of the Sullustan Defense Fleet and therefore ultimately
under their command. In the diurnal affairs Customs operates
autonomously to process all permits and inspect all incoming and outgoing
vessels traversing Sullustan Space. In particular, Customs is
concerned with contraband of all types and illegal immigration.
Sullustan Army
In times of peace, which are plentiful, the Army
serves its historic role as Peace Enforcement Officers (aka Police).
To assist them is an army of SSC 501-Z Police Droids. The droids also
maintain order when the Army must fight in military engagements. The
Army is additionally personally responsible for the safety and security of
the Sullustan Planetary Council, which it provides special bodyguards for.
It is rumored to have elite units specializing in counter-terrorism,
espionage, sabotage, anti-rioting, and other less than savory arts. It
is also responsible for protecting, at request, key industrial facilities
and important leaders of industry. When foreign dignitaries visit
Sullust, they are provided a military escort from the Sullustan Army.
