Below are the basic steps that you should follow to fly properly. Please look over this and prepare to be tested on it. If you pass then you will be issued the proper permits/licenses that will allow you to fly. Thank you.

Take-Off

In order to take off you need to do a couple of things. You can't just turn your ship on and fly away. You need to bring the main power bus on (this will take as long as a minute). Afterwards you can begin to prep your sublight and repulsor engines. Next you need to slowly bring your repulsor engines online to ease the craft off of the ground. Once you are in an open area you should engage the sublight engines. This will give you some real speed and allow you to head for the atmosphere. After you clear the atmosphere you're all set.

Light Jumps

After you exit the atmosphere and you plan on making a light jump, you must first get the coordinates from your nav computer. This could take awhile if you didn't already pre-program the jump. Once you get the course set simply engage the hyperdrive (usually a lever that you pull back) and watch as the stars turn into starlines. Since the hyperdrive takes up a lot of power the shields, sub-light engines, weapons, and sensors will automatically go offline. Once you come out of hyperspace you need to re-boot the systems that went offline. After this you just head for the planet you are going to.

Landing Clearance

Requesting landing clearance is quite simple. When you are in orbit of the planet you are trying to land on you will probably receive a transmission from the traffic control (customs) asking you to identify yourself. If they ask you any other questions just answer those as well. As long as you aren't a known terrorist or something like that they will go ahead and give you your landing coordinates. If they don't send you a transmission you may want to patch one in yourself. If you don't and just decide to land you could be fined.

Landing

Landing is like taking off backwards. After you enter the atmosphere just head for your landing zone using your sublight engines. As you grow near to it you will naturally want to decrease speed. Fly over the landing zone when you are fairly low and engage your repulsor lifts. Lower your repulsor pads, engage landing gear, and then decrease the power in the repulsor lifts to gradually lower yourself down. If you follow these steps you should be down without a scratch.

Note:

If are going head on with another ship always turn right to avoid collision. If you think it might be a side collision the person on the right dives while the person on left climbs. If everyone follows this code there shouldn't be any confusion.
